Getting Summer Ready With… ‘Russian Remy’ Hair Extensions

Privet my lovely Matryoshkas! I feel like this is a post long overdo, I’ve been caught up in preparing for an upcoming week long event that begins on the following Monday. It’s a surprise for now but it involves a ‘lookbook’, and of course fashion. And yes, I did do a lot of shopping recently, hehe! Besides all of that I have also been busy with a new fitness regime that includes running and strength training combined, so I haven’t been in the mood to sit still at my laptop and write posts when I just want to be outside as much as possible- and stretch my legs! I’m trying to become a ‘runner’ for cardiovascualr health, and I really want to be able to go on long runs along the local pier with my krasivyi boyfriend, somehow I think that would make for a cute/active date. Anyways today’s post is all about hair extensions inspired by one of my latest buys, and getting that summer ready, & sexy hair.

I picked up my clip in extensions from a little shop in the mall, who claim to be selling….get this 100% Russian Remy hair. I picked out the extensions with a length of 20″ (it came with 2 sets of 3 clipped (silicone) wefts, 3 sets of 2 clipped wefts, and 2 single clipped wefts). There is myth is that Russian Remy hair is superior in quality to all other hair types in the world of hair extensions. Anyways the hair colour of the ‘chunk’ of hair didn’t exactly match my ombre ends, as the hair had a warm blond tone, and my hair has more of an ash thing going for it. I did have to have my extensions taken in and dyed by my hair stylist- and the result is simply love & It blends much easier now with my natural hair. By the way dying/ bleaching the hair is one of the best tests to discovering if your hair extensions are authentic as synthetic won’t take to colour all that well. I also curled my extensions and they didn’t melt so that was another indicator that the hair is pretty much real- I’ve also heard about the burn test but I did not go through with testing that out. Now here are the before and after shots of my extensions after being dyed/ bleached etc:

The true definition of Remy Hair (however this term is also used loosely- so always beware):

Remy Hair is considered to be the finest quality of human hair because the cuticles are kept intact and not stripped, like in most other non-Remy hair extensions. Preserving the hairs’ cuticles and aligning them in a unidirectional fashion creates extensions that are completely natural in appearance.

Hair extensions have been that one item  that I have been longing for- for ages. I love the idea of being able to change my look just with added length. I remember watching the Luxy twins on youtube back in the day and wishing to buy extensions. Or seeing videos about bellami hair and how each woman’s look was transformed just from hair extensions- I was sold on the idea. My best friend owns them too and wants more, she’s crazy she honestly wants a jungle of hair attached to her head, and I love her for that. In part she’s to blame for giving me this idea of going for it. Of course there were a few other deciding factors that made the decision of buying the clip ins/ le chunk of hair easier: One there’s that upcoming wedding (by the way the guest list was previously sitting at 400 people, well it’s jumped to 600 now) Bridal showers, after-parties, and that week long surprise event (live shots of the events will be going up on my instagram page), plus the boyfriend really loves the idea of seeing me with longer hair- my real hair is past my shoulders and rests slightly above my boobs, so it’s not short to begin with.

Here’s a photo of myself from the back feeling glamourous with le chunk of hair:

shakeitoffSo matryoshkas what’s your summer ready? (I honestly love ombre whether it’s subtle or dramatic for summer) Do you guys have any new hair colours / styles that you’ve experimented with, or dreamt about? Btw guys I also use a lot of hair products, and here are just a few of the ones I’ve been playing with right now- they are decent products. If you have any questions about the products or about hair extensions and what I’ve learnt- please feel free to drop a comment below, like this post, or check out my instagram page for an instant pick-me-up :).

    • Yeah, I was able to have my mom to take a photo of me from the back with the extensions in nicely.
She just happened to have captured a candid shot of me sweeping my hair, and that photo made one of the final cuts.
